Identity

Our storyIt all started here

In a holy and damned land. Bathed by the sun, the sea, the wind. Sambuca di Sicilia.

The 20s are the years of change, the roaring years, the golden years.

Our story starts right there.

Great-grandfather Vito buys his first vineyard. In the beginning there was one. Then they became 10, 20, maybe 100. Grandfather Carlo, son of Great-grandfather Vito, sows slowly and harvests patiently. As a film and solid man, he will increase his passion for the land, and with it his lands will also grow.

01Our present

“Vito Giovinco, a renowned winemaker, with his nephew Antonino and the team, carry on the family tradition, aiming for innovation, discovery and design. The bottles are the manifesto of these ideas.”

02Mission

To renew the world of wine and the way it is told, combining the quality of our organic and high-level oenological products with a modern design and a fresh and contemporary lifestyle.

We want to create, in this way, a unique experience that speaks to the new generations of wine lovers and that is appreciated even by the most demanding palates.

GiovincoOur Story

From the 1920s to today

1920
The first parcelGreat-grandfather Vito Giovinco, acquires a small plot of land from the family. It is located in the Sgarretta district of Sambuca di Sicilia, where cereals, cotton and a few olive trees were grown. It was precisely in those years that the Giovinco Agricultural Company was founded.
1948
The turning pointCarlo and his brother Ciccio Giovinco, Vito’s sons, joined the company at a very young age. Their entry would represent an important turning point. In the following years, thanks to their work and their mentality, the company would grow in production and size, with the purchase of numerous lands (both vineyards and olive groves) and means for processing the latter.
1970-1985
Cellaro Winery and ExpansionCarlo Giovinco and other agricultural entrepreneurs from Sambuca joined forces and in 1970 founded the Cellaro Winery, to allow the grapes to be brought together in a single structure. This would be a crucial moment for the entire economy of the village. In fact, it was based mainly on the primary sector. Carlo would remain a councilor of the winery for several years. The Cellaro Winery, even today, continues its activity with the principles and ideals of the founders. Meanwhile, the Giovinco company, in those years, continued to expand and in 1985 some land was purchased in contrada Pandolfina, in Sambuca di Sicilia, which would become olive groves and vineyards.
2006-2011
OrganicIn 2006, the company converted entirely to organic. A cutting-edge and courageous choice for the period. In 2011, we also landed on Etna with the purchase of a small plot in Randazzo (CT), in contrada San Lorenzo.
2017
The Giovinco brandVito Giovinco (son of Carlo who will pass away in January 2021) takes over the company and together with his nephew Antonino moves towards new businesses. In this year, the “Giovinco” brand is designed with its iconic “G”. The organic, cold-extracted extra virgin olive oil is bottled for the first time. Blend of the 3 varieties present in our olive groves: 70% Nocellara del Belice and 30% Cerasuola and Biancolilla.
2021
Sambuca di Sicilia (AG) and Etna (CT).2021 is the first year of production of our wines, in which the Etna Bianco, Etna Rosato and Etna Rosso from contrada San Lorenzo, in Randazzo (CT) were born. In 2022, instead, we introduce the products of Sambuca di Sicilia: an Organic Nero d'Avola and Grillo from contrada Sgarretta and a Traditional Method sparkling wine. We are still writing the rest...
